Devoted wife of Lawrence; Loving mother of Grace and Sarah;
Beloved daughter of John and Barbara Hanmer; Cherished sister of John (Lisa); Dear daughter-in-law of Alice and Bernard Betz; Fond sister-in-law of Thomas (Jiahui) Betz, Allison (Matt) Gill, William (Migena) Betz, and Paul (Amie) Betz; Wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews; Joyce was born on Feb. 27, 1975 in Traverse City, MI; She lived in Benzonia, MI for the first 23 years of her life, and graduated from Benzie Central High School and Central MI University; She worked for the American Red Cross in Traverse City before moving to Oak Lawn, IL and marrying her husband Larry in 2008; She loved her friends, family, horses, and the 4H Program, where she was a leader and volunteer for nearly 10 years; She was a girl scout and 4H member in her youth, and ran the family resort for three years; She always looked forward to Christmas and family vacations every year, and she will be dearly missed by all; Visitation Wednesday 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Thursday, 10:00 a.m. from Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th Street, Chicago Ridge to St. Linus Church, 10300 Lawler Ave, Oak Lawn. Mass 11:00 a.m.; Interment Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Benzonia Township Cemetery, Benzie County, MI.; In lieu of flowers, donations to the Will County 4H Youth Foundation, c/o Lisa Vancina 240 S. Eastern Ave. Manhattan, IL 60442, or teachoutdoors.org, 222 W. Benton St. Morris, IL 60450 for a scholarship in honor of Joyce, would be appreciated.
